Greeks. He was a scholar enjoying the great esteem of the intellectuals of the day, as witnessed by the reception of his Comments on Athenaios as well as the edition of Strabo. It should be noted that Casaubon, a student of Francis Porto, succeeded him in the chair of Greek in 1582 at the university of Geneva.
