Moschus - Bion. Εἰδύλλια Μόσχου... καὶ Βίωνος... Ausonii... Eidyllion à Feder. Iamotio versibus Graecis..., Geneva, Jean Crespin, 1569.
The first edition was printed in 1565 and numerous reprints were made up to 1620. Moschos of Syracuse, a second bc grammarian, treated bucolic poetry. The funeral poem for Bion, attributed to him, is not legitimate. The first edition of Bion’s Bucolics was printed in 1565 together with equivalen works by Moscos (Hoffman II, 424-425). They are poems written on the model of the Idylls by Theocritus which survived in excerpts, among which also the ‘Adonidos Epitaphios’. Bion was born near Smyrna (Smyrneos) and wrote in the second century bc.
