The first edition under an equivalent title was again issued by Aldus in two volumes (1508-1509) which, besides others, for the first time also comprised Aristoteles’s Poetics. The 1513 edition also includes rare essays of oratory that had not circulated in print, such as speeches by Isaios, Deinarchus, Gorgia, Antiphon and many others. Aldus’ dedication formally addresses the edition to Francesco Faseolo, legal advisor of the great Chancellor of Venice, stressing among other things that if someone were to ask him how he succeeded in acquiring so many advantages, he should reply as had Alexander the Great: “By postponing nothing”.
