Basil the Great. Hexameron, Basilii per Joannem Argyropolum e greco in latinus conversum..., Rome, Iacobus Mazochius, December 1515.
First edition of the Hexameron of Basil the Great, although translations of his works were circulated in print from 1470. Argyropoulos’s translation was completed while he was teaching at the Sapienza University of Rome (1471-1477) and he dedicated the manuscript, entitled Commentariorum in S. Basilii Hexameron to his former fellow-student and patron Pope Sixtus IV. The print-editing was undertaken by a well known printer of Rome, Giacomo Mazocchi, who in the same year published St. Basil’s Complete Works.
