Ioannes Grammatikus (Philoponus).
First edition of the Hypomnema by Philoponos to the four books Περὶ φυσικῆς (Physika) by Aristoteles. This edition, as is the case for other editions by Philoponos Περὶ ψυχῆς (De anima), 1535) was edited by Vettore Trincavelli (1496-1568), a doctor and distinguished Hellenist who had studied at Padua and Bologna, excellently combining the science of medicine with Greek studies. As he was not however able to take the chair of Philosophy at Padua he turned to publishing philosophical writings by Ancient Greeks. Giovanni Trincavelli’s printed editions are particularly well done: Greek and Latin titles, a large-sized printer’s mark, headings and initial letters from the material of Kallierges and Vlastos, and wide margins, giving it a special style.
