Hephaistion of Alexandria.
The sole surviving work by Hephaestion of Alexandria, in 48 books, which is the only source for the Ancient Greek metric system, composed with examples (iambs, dactyls, etc.) as well as meters of choral lyric poetry. The first edition was printed by the Giunti in 1526. The numerous examples and quotations made of it a first class school book, and it was not only most useful but was repeatedly annotated.
