Ἐτυμολογικὸν τὸ Μέγα. Ἤγουν Ἡ Μεγάλη Γραμματική... [Edition with editing by Fridericus Sylburgius] [Heidelberg], Hieronymus Commelinus, 1594.
Third edition of the ‘Mega Etymologikon’ – following the editio princeps by Kallierges and Vlastos (1499) and Torresano’s (1549) – (see Nos. 10, 90); it was edited by Fr. Sylburgius and the first with commentary. Sylburgius, a polymath of stature, attended classes in the Greek language and literature at Iena under Rhodoman and since devoted himself to the study of ancient letters. The renowned printer Wechel entrusted the editing to him of editions in the Greco-Latin tradition, as did Commelin later in Heidelberg.
