First edition of the History of the emperor Mauricius by the seventh century Byzantine historian surnamed Simocattes, with the Latin translation by Iacobo Pontanus. The same edition was reprinted in Paris (1648) and in Venice (1729). Pontano (1542-1626), was a Dutch scholar who taught ancient literature in many colleges. He published numerous editions of classical works in many German book centres.
