Natale Conti (Comes). Natalis Comitis Mythologiae, sive explicationis fabularum..., Geneva, Petrus Chouët, 1651.
The first edition of this mythological compilation was printed in Paris in 1583, a year after the death of Comes (circa 1520-1582). Comes became an authority on Greek and Egyptian mythology, maintaining that scientific and philosophic truth was derived through myths as he claimed that sages had chosen that form of writing so as to be comprehensible by the broader public.
