First edition of the Hierocosmike Historia known by the popular name “Arab chronicler”, divided into five parts of which the first three treat the history of Mt Sinai and the Monastery, the fourth from the period of the kings of Egypt until Sultan Selim and the fifth relating to Selim and his wars against the Persians. The Patriarch of Jerusalem Nectarios (1605-1680), a pupil of Th. Korydalleas, had optimum command of Latin, Turkish and Arabic and therefore used descriptions and records of events from foreign-language sources.
