Antonios Katephoros. Ἀντωνίου Κατηφόρου... Γραμματικὴ Ἑλληνικὴ..., Venice, Antonio Bortoli, 1734.
First edition of the Grammar, composed by Katephoros for the sake of his students, while he was teaching at the Venice Flaggenian School and preached at the church of Saint George. Antonios Katephoros (1696-1763) from Zakynthos travelled to various Central European capitals and was employed by the duke of Lorraine and Prince of Ornage for the breadth of his scholarship and wisdom. His fame spread among the royal courts but he however declined the invitation of the king of Prussia Frederic, who nevertheless included his portrait in his gallery of sages.
