First edition of the work by Herodotus in Venice by Aldus Manutius in 1502, the present one represents the first by Radinos in Modern Greek. Radinos was born in Therapeia on the Bosphorus at the end of the eighteenth century and studied at the Patriarchal Academy. He taught at Odessa (1821-1823), and was later appointed Principal of the school in Patras, while he translated Herodotus.
