Chr. N. Philadelpheus (1808-1870) initially studied in Smyrne and then at Corfu’s Ionian Academy. He founded a publishing press in Athens in 1842 and later in Corfu in 1849. The press was originally called Mnemosyne and then Hermes, until 1870.
