Eugenios Bulgaris. Ἐπιστολὴ..., πρὸς ἀναίρεσιν τινὸς φληνάφου δυσεβοῦς... ἐπιμελείᾳ Ἀθανασίου Ψαλίδα..., Vienna, Josef Baumeister, 1791.
First and only edition of the Epistole and second known complete copy, sent by Bulgaris from St. Petersburg in August 1790 to someone living in Trieste with whom he corresponded and in which he inveighs against Christodoulos Pamblekis and his anti-religious doctrines. Pamblekis had written a virulent anti-clerical text that was condemned by the Church, both because of its anti-radical ideas and in general. He was furthermore accused of having formed a scholarly circle around him in Vienna where he promoted his subversive ideas. Typically, following his condemnation, his students erected a monument in a public garden in Leipzig, where he was active, to counteract the stance of the Church.
