The first edition of the Ogygia, a term that refers to Antiquity during the past (from Ogyges, ruler of the peoples of Attica), was issued by A. Stageirites, Greek language professor in Vienna, in five volumes. In his preface Note the author elaborates on issues regarding the curriculum of the Greek language in schools and the indispensable books needed for the intellectual resurrection of the Greek people: “If therefore we do not succeed in us too having such books, and such order in the schools of the Greek people, let us not seek nor hope to salvage learning.”
