Anthimos Gazis. Ἀνθίμου Γαζῆ Λεξικὸν Ἑλληνικὸν πρὸς χρῆσιν τῶν περὶ τοὺς παλαιοὺς συγγραφεῖς ἐνασχολουμένων... ἐπιστασίᾳ καὶ διορθώσει Σπυρίδωνος Βλαντῆ..., Venice, Nikolaos Glykys, vol. I, 1809, vol. III, 1816.
First edition of Gazis’s Lexicon, the planning for which dates to 1800 although it was not followed through. In 1804 Gazis was in Ampelakia and set up a Company with an agreement signed by Koumas and Economos who appear as the publishers and text editors, as well as five Ampelakian merchants who co-funded the publication. The venture was cancelled once again when the committee was informed of the impending issue of the Kivotos in Constantinople. Gazis nevertheless meanwhile benefited in drawing additional material from the edition Griechischen Lexikon J.G. Schneider (Jena, 1806). In the end the contract for the edition in question was signed by Gazis and Glykys (1807), foreseeing an impression of 1,100 copies.
