Translation by Th. Pharmakides of Elementarbuch der Griechischen Sprache für Anfänger by Friedrich Jacobs, from the 1812 fourth edition. The first edition of the translation of the Chrestomatheia was issued in Vienna in 1815, 1817 and 1818 in four volumes. The second edition was published in two volumes in Corfu in 1829. Theokletos Pharmakides (1784-1862) rendered valuable services to the world of letters: he undertook to continue the publication of the Logios Hermes, taught at the Ionian Academy, was Ephor of education in 1823 in accordance with the decision of Parliament (Tripoli, 1823), was in charge of the national printing press and also served as Ephor of the Kentriko Scholeio (Central School) in Aegina (1832).
