Konstantinos Asopios was born in Epirus in 1785 and died in 1872. He studied and taught at several Greek communities abroad before he was proclaimed professor of the University of Athens. Among his major works is the Introduction to Pindar, which was published in 1843. This is the only edition of his Speech before the Ionian Academy, which he gave when he joined the University of the Ionian islands, in October 1836.
