The Dialogues of N. Doukas, especially those related to religious matters, caused a number of concerns and reactions in religious circles. Several attempts to have the author condemned by the Ecumenical Patriarchate were made, particularly on the part of Samuel, bishop of Andros. A Rebuttal of these Dialogues by an anonymous author was released in 1817.
