This is one of the editions of eminent French humanist François Joseph Terras, also known as Desbillons (1711-1789). Desbillons was styled “La Fontaine latin” and “the last of the Romans”. His style is similar to that of Terence. His first works became very popular, and were repeatedly republished; for instance, Fabulae Aesopiae was first printed in Glasgow in 1754, in Paris the following, year, again in 1757 etc.
