Agapetos Diakonos. Ἔκθεσις παραινετικὴ Ἀγαπητοῦ διακόνου, πρὸς Ἰουστινιανὸν..., Venice, Zacharias Kallierges, 11 May 1509.
First edition of the Ἔκθεσις (Ekthesis) by Agapetos Diakonos, a Byzantine cleric and author of the sixth century, which represents the second printing essay by Zacharias Kallierges, published in Venice in the second period of his career, in 1509. The work is divided into 72 chapters, with reference to political and religious subjects and to the moral dictates of each emperor. The book became very popular in the West as well as in the East, with numerous publications in other languages including Latin, English, German, Spanish, French and Slavonic. The edition is accompanied by the Latin translation, edited by Kallierges himself and represents the first Latin printing essay to come out of a Greek printers’.
