Demetrius Pepagomenus. Demetrii Pepagomeni Liber De Podagra,et id Genus Morbis..., Paris, Guillaume Morel, 1558
The author of this booklet, Demetrios Pepagomenos, was active in the first half of the fifteenth century, practising the art of Hippocrates in Constantinople and corresponding with scholars of the class of Bessarion, Ioannes Eugenicus and others. He wrote various medical texts, the Libellus de Podagra among them, translated by Mousouros in Rome shortly before his death in 1517. This is the first edition while the second was printed in a volume of miscellany in Paris, most probably by Henry Stephanos and the third in Padua in 1721. All editions contain Mousouros’s dedicatory prologue, in his capacity as archbishop, addressed to Scaramuzza Trivulzio, bishop of Como, who suffered from arthritis and was, next to Pope Leo X, his most ardent supporter.
