Philo Byzantius. Philo Byzantius De Septem Orbis Spectaculis..., Rome, excudebat Mascardus, 1640.
First edition on which subsequent ones were based. The author of Philo wrote in the days of Ptolemy surnamed Physkos (circa 146 bc) and was principally concerned with mechanics. Only the work ‘Peri ton hepta theamaton’ is attributed to him, which is most probably a pseudonymous title whose authorship should be attributed to orators of the age of decline.
