First edition of the Speeches of Maximus, the self-styled ‘Platonist’ (2nd century bc), that is to say his lectures on subjects such as Socratic love and the daimon of the philosopher, printed by Henry Stephanos in Paris in 1557. The Oxford edition contains D. Heinsius’s Latin translation and his notes.
