The first edition was published in Troyes, France, in 1596 by P. Pithou, the renowned French jurist and scholar (1539-1596), with significant writings to his credit. The present edition with commentary by Hoogstratani was first printed in Amsterdam in 1701. It is a volume of Myths by Phaidros, who was born in Macedonia but from his childhood lived in Italy and was active in the first century ad.
