The first and sole edition of the treatise by the prolific Unitist Ioannes Karyophyllus who was born in Crete (in about 1566-1635) and was a student at Rome’s Greek Gymnasion. He knew Greek and Latin and was also proficient in philosophy and theology, and wrote and published many texts and translations. His Elenkhos castigated the Catechism by Zacharias Gerganos, Metropolitan of Naupactus and Arta, as it contains dogma and positions of Luther and Calvin. Most of his works were issued by the Catholic Propaganda’s press.
