Reprint of the work, first printed, again in two volumes, but in Berlin in 1788. Pauw (1739-1799), a renowned Dutch scholar, at some point retired to the little town of Xanten, where he devoted himself to the study of the philosophical tradition of the Greeks, Egyptians, Chinese and others.
