Matthaios, from Ganohoron.
First edition of the Grammar by Matthaios, also known to us from the Enchiridion Peri Syntaxeos, dedicated to the Patriarch of Jerusalem Anthimos.Second edition of the Grammar, the first being of Venice in 1775, composed by the monk Matthaios from Thrace’s Ganohoron, who was also the first teacher at the Academy in Bucharest. The reasons that impelled him to the composition and publication of this Enchiridion were to provide the school public with a grammar more easily understood than Gazis’s.
