This is a ‘pocket edition’ comprising eight Tragedies: Aeschylus’s Prometheus; the Ajax, Electra and Antigone by Sophocles and Hecuba; Iphigenia at Aulis; Medea and Alcestis by Euripides. The Greek text is accompanied by two Latin translations, one in verse and the other in prose form, with the exception of the Prometheus, given in the prose translation only. The translations are by eminent scholars of the Renaissance: Erasmus, Melanchthon, Joachim Camerarius, G. Buchanan and G. Ratallerus.
